Show Review: COIN in Orlando
COIN is Not Afraid of Orlando Anymore: A Concert Review
Coin is a band composed of three members, Chase Lawrence (Lead vocal and synthesizer), Ryan Winnen (Drums), and Joe Memmel (Lead guitar and backing vocals) based in Nashville known for their unique blend of indie and pop music.
After a two year hiatus, COIN is back and better than ever with their brand new album “I’m Not Afraid of Music Anymore” containing 14 songs about self-acceptance exploring complex emotions and vulnerable feelings while maintaining their signature sound. Along with their brand new album, they started a tour “I’m Not Afraid of Tour Anymore” a few months back with the support of Aidan Bissett.
I was lucky enough to attend their Orlando, Florida show as COIN loves Florida. This concert offered something for both longtime fans and those new to their music, the setlist included some of their hits like “Malibu 1992,” ”Crash My Car,” and “Talk too much”. Yet, it was the new songs that stole the show. Each of the new tracks filled the room with a contagious energy from the band and their fans..
The band opened up with “It’s Hard to Care About Everything”. The stage had a simple setup, allowing the music and lights to take center stage without the need for over the top theatrics. The minimal approach of this tour showcased COIN’s raw talent, connection with their audience, and their energy. The setlist was thoughtfully put together, bringing fun and emotion to everybody in the room.
Lead vocalist Chase Lawrence fed off it, delivering his vocals with intensity and warmth, with an outstanding stage presence. Guitarist Joe Memmel and drummer Ryan Winnen also shone, each showing their musicianship and playing off each other's energy.
Overall, COIN’s show in Orlando is a perfect description of who COIN is as a band, definitely a must see show while it’s still on the road.
